WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman guard Austin Butler has been named the Patriot League The Rock Rookie of the Week, for competition from Dec. 4-10. Butler helped lead the Crusader men’s basketball team to a 1-1 record in a pair of games last week.

After not seeing any action in Wednesday’s 64-50 loss at Massachusetts, Butler came off the bench to lead Holy Cross to a 62-58 victory over New Hampshire on Saturday. He totaled a team-high 16 points, two assists and two steals against the Wildcats, while hitting five of eight field goal attempts, four of seven shots from three-point range and two of three free throws.

On the season, Butler is now averaging 5.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game, while making 36.4 percent of his three-point attempts.

Holy Cross (3-6 overall) returns to action next Tuesday, Dec. 19, when it plays host to Iona at 7:05 p.m.
