Holy Cross Set To Face Bucknell On Saturday
The Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns home this weekend for a 12:05 p.m. game against Bucknell on Saturday, Feb. 17. The contest between the Crusaders and the Bison will be shown by Stadium and the Patriot League Network, and can be heard live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 10-16 on the season with a 7-8 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders have won five of their last seven games, and are coming off a 70-65 victory at Army on Wednesday night. Holy Cross currently ranks second in the Patriot League in scoring defense (68.5 points per game) and turnover margin (+1.0 turnovers per game).
Heading into the weekend, the Crusaders are all alone in sixth place in the Patriot League standings. With three games left, Holy Cross can still finish as high as second or as low as ninth in the conference.
Junior forward Jehyve Floyd has led the team by averaging 11.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game, while ranking fifth in the nation with a .675 field goal percentage. Freshman guard Caleb Green has also been playing well, with averages of 9.1 points, 2.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds per contest. Freshman guard Austin Butler has added 8.9 points and 3.1 boards per game, while freshman forward Jacob Grandison is chipping in with 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest.
Bucknell currently stands 19-9 overall and has already clinched the Patriot League regular season title with a 13-2 mark in conference play. The Bison have won 12 of their last 13 games, including a 94-53 victory over Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday.
Senior forward Zach Thomas has led the team by averaging 21.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, while hitting 38.5 percent of his three-point attempts. Senior center Nana Foulland has posted 15.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per contest, and senior guard Stephen Brown has added 14.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.
After the contest with Bucknell, Holy Cross will remain at home for a 7:05 p.m. game against American on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
