  • The Lead: Two Crusaders scored in double figures, but Holy Cross suffered a 48-84 loss to Penn State on Wednesday night at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

    • Freshman forward Lauren Manis scored 11 points and added five rebounds with a pair of steals for the Crusaders.
    • Junior guard Infiniti Thomas-Waheed notched 11 points and earned four rebounds on the night.
    • Lindsey Spann led the Lady Lions with 18 points and tallied three boards with a pair of assists.
    • Teniya Page scored 17 points and notched five assists for Penn State.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams started strong out of the gate, as the Crusaders and Lady Lions jumped out to an 8-8 tie in the opening five minutes.
  • Penn State then went on an 11-0 run to gain a 19-8 advantage over Holy Cross.
  • The Crusaders added four more points before the end of the first quarter, but trailed the Lady Lions 21-12 at the break.
  • Holy Cross got within five points, but Penn State went on a long scoring run in the second quarter to take a 39-20 lead into the locker room at the half.
  • The Crusaders and Lady Lions battled back and forth to begin the second half, as Penn State was able to grow its lead towards the end of the third quarter.
  • Penn State outscored Holy Cross 26-16 in the third to take a 65-36 lead into the fourth.
  • Holy Cross was able to cut Penn State’s deficit early on in the fourth, but the Lady Lions outscored the Crusaders 19-12 in the final quarter.

UP NEXT

  • Holy Cross is back in action this Saturday, Dec. 10, as the Crusaders host UMass Lowell at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex at 1:05 p.m.
  • The Crusaders will be hosting a postgame clinic following Saturday’s game in the Hart Center Gymnasium. All players in the eighth grade or under are welcome to take part. All participants are asked to bring on-court sneakers.
  • The team is also hosting a toy drive on Saturday, when any fan who donates a toy will receive two dollars off their ticket price.
