  • The Lead: Freshman forward Lauren Manis led the Crusaders with 22 points, as Holy Cross defeated UMass Lowell by a score of 62-47 on Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Manis went 8-for-13 from the field to score a game-high 22 points while adding eight rebounds.
  • Junior forward Amy Hasenauer led Holy Cross with 10 rebounds and added six points.
  • Kayla Gibbs led UMass Lowell with 14 points while adding six rebounds.
  • Oda Shackelford scored 11 points while grabbing seven boards for the River Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After both teams jumped out to a 10-10 tie in the first quarter, the Crusaders took control of the lead with a jump shot from junior guard Infiniti Thomas-Waheed and never looked back.
  • The Crusaders scored the next six points to break out of the tie to end the first quarter with a 16-10 advantage.
  • Holy Cross began the second quarter with an 8-4 run, growing its lead to 10.
  • The Crusaders would lead by as much as 14 points before heading into the locker room at halftime up 32-20.
  • In the early stages of the third quarter, the Crusaders put together a 9-2 run that put them ahead of the River Hawks by 18 points.
  • Holy Cross outscored UMass Lowell 19-10 in the third quarter to take a 51-30 lead into the fourth.
  • The River Hawks put together an 11-3 run during the fourth quarter, but came no closer to cutting the deficit, as Holy Cross earned the 62-47 victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Manis registered a new career-high with 22 points. She has scored in double figures in seven of her first nine career games.
  • Hasenauer notched a new career-high with 10 rebounds.
  • Sophomore center Miranda Nixon notched a career-high five rebounds.
  • Holy Cross is now 7-3 all-time against the River Hawks, and 4-1 in games played in Worcester.
