Lauren Manis Named Patriot League Rookie Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women’s basketball freshman forward Lauren Manis has been named The Rock Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. This is the first weekly award for Manis in her career.
Manis led the Crusaders with a career-high 22 points in the 62-47 win over UMass Lowell on Saturday at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. She also ranked second on the team in rebounds with eight. In the loss to Penn State last Wednesday, Manis tied for the team lead in scoring with 11 points, and led the Crusaders with five boards.
The freshman currently ranks ninth in the Patriot League with 12.0 points per game, and third in the conference with 8.2 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in seven of her first nine career games, and has notched four double-doubles on the year.
Holy Cross returns to action this Sunday, Dec. 18, as the Crusaders travel to Amherst to take on Massachusetts at 2:00 p.m.
