Baseball And Softball Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer

Holy Cross Athletics   03-24-2017

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball and baseball teams will be showing their commitment to the fight against cancer, as the two teams are set to take the field wearing Go4theGoal’s gold laces on their cleats as part of Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer this weekend.

“As a team, we are incredibly excited to be partnering with our baseball program to Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer,” said softball head coach Jen Lapicki. “The Go4theGoal organization has always had a special place in my heart, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support and bring awareness to their mission of improving the lives of children battling cancer. I am also extremely proud of and impressed by our team’s continued passion for wanting to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Teams from youth to professional levels across the country have represented Go4theGoal, a non-profit organization founded in 2006 that works to raise funds for children battling cancer, through its Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer program by wearing gold laces on their cleats and athletic shoes during competitions.

Participating teams purchase pairs of gold laces for $5.00 each from Go4theGoal with 100 percent of the funds going towards supporting kids with cancer and their families in the area where the money was donated. Combined, the Crusaders raised over $260 for Go4theGoal.

“Our baseball program is really looking forward to the opportunity of working with Go4theGoal and its Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer event,” said baseball head coach Greg DiCenzo. “Along with our softball program, Holy Cross baseball is always an eager participant  to help out with any community service initiative surrounding the well-being of children.”

Both teams will play four games this weekend. Softball is set to head to the Stony Brook Invitational, while baseball will face Yale in a four-game series.
