McCarthy Represents Patriot League at NCAA DI SAAC Meeting
CHICAGO, Ill. – Senior softball player Mandy McCarthy was invited to represent the Patriot League at this year’s NCAA DI SAAC Meeting in Chicago, Ill. The meeting took place Oct. 14-15 with representatives from each Division I conference in the country.
SAAC’s mission is to enhance student-athletes’ experiences by promoting opportunities, overall well-being and a positive student-athlete image. The committee gives student-athletes the opportunity to respond to NCAA legislation and participate in the administrative procedures of the NCAA and its athletics programs.
At the annual meeting, the student-athletes discussed topics from an Early Recruiting Survey and reviewed legislative proposals for the 2017-18 cycle.
“The NCAA DI SAAC conference was an amazing experience,” said McCarthy. “It was rewarding to be in a room with so many diverse and well-informed voices that are motivated to improve the student-athlete experience.”
McCarthy was the first ever Crusader to be invited by the Patriot League to the attend the annual meeting.
“I was so happy to find out that I was given the opportunity to represent the student-athletes of the Patriot League at the level of a national discussion,” said McCarthy. “It was great to have even a small hand in the future of the NCAA so that the next generations of student-athletes can continue to enjoy their time in college athletics as much as I have enjoyed mine."
