Liam Driscoll Named A Finalist For The Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award
The award recognizes the accomplishments of two lacrosse student-athletes who help their teams achieve success in ways that may not be measured in goals, saves or ground balls. The award recognizes the student-athlete who makes a significant contribution to the team while also bringing joy to teammates. The award recipients exhibit leadership as a positive role model and also are involved in community service. The recipients are awarded a sum of money from the One Love Foundation to be given to their favorite charity.
Driscoll has been a community leader during his time as a Crusader. He has been a Big Brother to a little brother from the Canterbury School. Driscoll has also ridden each year in the 25-mile annual Rodman Ride for Kids and coordinated the team's efforts to raise over $30,000 during his time at Holy Cross for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Driscoll also organized a toy drive that raised over $300 worth of gifts this past December. Driscoll has been the program's leader for Team Impact, won the Crusaders Against Cancer 5k in 2016 and the Working for Worcester 5k in 2014 as each event raised money and awareness for local Worcester charities, volunteered at St. Mary's Health Center, taught CCD at St. John's and went on an Agape Community Immersion Trip in the fall.
The One Love Foundation was established in 2010 in honor of former University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Reynolds Love. The vision of the organization is to educate people to recognize the warning signs of relationship violence and motivate them to step up and take action.
