Men's Lacrosse Adds 14 To 2018 Roster

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross men's lacrosse coach Judd Lattimore has announced the incoming class for the Crusaders. Lattimore adds 13 freshmen to the 2018 roster and one sophomore, Dan O’Connell, transferring from the University of South Carolina.  Lattimore rounds out the incoming class with five midfielders, four defenders, two attackers, two long stick midfielders and one goalie. The 14-man class boasts three high school All-Americans.

"We are extremely excited to welcome this talented group of players to the Holy Cross Men's Lacrosse team” said Head Coach Judd Lattimore. “We expect them to have an immediate impact on our program."

Brad Baker

  • Four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team under head coach Ryan Henry • Won the team’s MVP Award his junior year and the team’s Offensive MVP Award his senior year
  • Led the team in scoring his sophomore, junior and senior seasons
  • Was awarded Tristate Top 100 by Laxlessons accolades as a sophomore in 2015
  • Was named to the All-Long Island Catholic List in both his sophomore and junior seasons
  • As a senior in 2017, he was a U.S. Lacrosse All-American and was ranked #85 in the Inside Lacrosse Top 100 Seniors in the Country
  • Was ranked first in Long Island and 12th in the state for assists in 2016
  • Ranked first among all Long Island Catholic schools in points and assists in 2016 with 54 assists and 80 points
  • Ranked first among all Long Island Catholic schools in assists and third in points in 2015 with 32 assists and 62 points

Matthew Brush:

  • Played four years of varsity lacrosse under head coach Aaron Oliver

  • Won the team’s MVP Award for his performance during his senior season
  • Was an All-Conference player his sophomore and junior years

  • Played club lacrosse for Team Minnesota under head coach Scott Hugdahl and for TC Select under coaches Aaron Oliver and Ryan Ward

Jack Cahill:

  • Four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team under head coach John Isaf
  • Was the team captain and MVP his senior year
  • Was a Tri-Valley League All-Star in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons
  • Was named the Nike Northeast Player of the Week during his sophomore year
  • Was awarded Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors and Boston Herald All-Scholastic Honors
  • Was the Golden Ball Recipient for scoring the most goals in the MIAA playoffs by any player
  • Team won four league championships and three state championships (2014, 2015, 2016)
  • Was named an EMLCA First Team All-American and a Boston Lax All-American
  • Was a member of the 3D New England and Laxachusetts club lacrosse teams under head coaches Mark Goodrich (3D New England) and Sean Morris (Laxachusetts)

Tom Cremins:

  • Four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team under head coach Mike Conklin
  • Served as team captain sophomore, junior and senior years
  • Won the Nelson T. Shields Lacrosse Award for Leadership/Sportsmanship/Dedication to the program after his sophomore, junior and senior seasons
  • Three-time first team All-IPSL (2015-17) and a three-time All-Mid-Atlantic Prep Academic Team
  • Named a First Team All-Metro Independent (2017), Second Team All-Metro Independent (2016)
  • Won the first league championship in school history as a senior

Dominic Dimitroff:

  • Three-year member of the varsity lacrosse team under head coach Charles “Chip” Davis at Deerfield Academy
  • Was a member of the conference championship team that was ranked eighth nationally and went 15-1 in 2014
  • Was a member of the conference championship team that ranked seventh nationally with a 15-1 record in 2016
  • Played one year of varsity lacrosse as a post-graduate for head coach Justin Simon at the New Hampton School
  • Was a Northern New England Lacrosse League All-Star

Peter Dobbs:

  • Team won conference championship his junior year and was the first team in school history to make the state semifinals

Leif Johnson:

  • A two-time member of the varsity lacrosse team under head coach Keith Wieczorek
  • Helped St. Anthony’s to a 2016 CHSAA Championship

  • Named MVP and to the all-star game at the Philly Showcase in 2013
  • Invited to Maverik Showtime in 2014

Rowan Hart:

  • Served as team captain his sophomore, junior and senior seasons
  • Won the team’s Most Inspirational Award as a sophomore in 2015 and the team’s Don Aiello Award as a senior in 2017
  • Was awarded First Team SVLC All-League Honors as a sophomore and First Team AVLC All-Conference as a junior and a senior
  • Won the Davis Senior High School Athlete of the Week Award
  • Nominate as a US Lacrosse high school All-American in 2017
  • Set the school record for most career varsity points with 292 and most career varsity assists with 127
  • Set the school record for most single-season points twice after posting 109 points his junior year and 111 points his senior year
  • Set the school record for most goals in a season with 65, most assists in a single-season with 62 and most assists in a game with 12
  • Was a member of the ADVNC SF 2017 club lacrosse team under head coach Drew Virk

Kyle Helfrich:

  • Was a four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team under head coach Dean Chaprentier and captained the team his senior year
  • Named All-ISL as a junior and a two-time All-ISL Honorable mention (2015, 2017)
  • Finished his high school career with a 78% percentage
  • Named to the Eagle Tribune All-Boston team
  • Played club lacrosse for HGR under head coach Bryan Brazil

Dan Locke:

  • Was a four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team under head coach Al Brown
  • Was a U.S. Lacrosse All-American and a two-time Independent All-State player
  • Served as team captain and won the conference championship as a senior
  • Was awarded All-League honors for all four years and was a two-time All-State player
  • Set the school record for most ground balls in a single season with 134
  • Played club lacrosse on team Laxachusetts under head coach Sean Morris

Gavin McNamara:

  • Four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team for head coach Dean Charpentier
  • Recipient of the 2014 Coaches Award
  • In his sophomore and junior campaigns, played in 28 games and recorded 68 points on 33 goals and 35 assists
  • As a freshman at Cardigan Mountain School, tallied 42 goals and 40 assists for 82 points in 18 games 

Cole Nagahama:

  • Three-year member of the varsity lacrosse team for head coach Tim Sullivan and captained the team in 2017
  • Two-time ISL Honorable Mention (2016 & 2017)
  • Helped his team to three consecutive ISL Championships in 2015, 2016, and 2017 

Dan O’Connell:

  • Three-year member of the varsity lacrosse team for head coach John Pirani, leading the team in points each season
  • Was the first player in program history to be elected captain both his junior and senior seasons
  • Was awarded the Middlesex League MVP Award as a junior in 2016
  • Was a Middlesex League All-Star in 2014 and 2015
  • Was awarded 2016 Boston Globe All-Scholastic accolades along with 2016 Boston Herald All-Scholastic accolades
  • Was a 2016 EMLCA Second Team All-American
  • Team won division championships in 2014 and state championships in 2016
  • Set the school record for most career assists and is ranked second all-time in career points 

Philip Turner: 

  • Played two years of varsity lacrosse under head coach Brian Phipps
  • Served as captain his senior year
  • Was a member of the Capital Gazette First Team All-County as a senior in 2017
  • Was an Anne Arundel County Bliderback Senior All-Star and was a Spalding Key Player as a junior and senior
  • Team was ranked third in the MIAA A Conference in 2016 and fourth in 2017
  • Was a member of the API Select/API Diamondbacks club team under head coach Buggs Combs
  • Served as team captain in 2016
  • Was a 2015 Trilogy Recruiting Tournament All-Star and a 2016 Baltimore Under Armour Top 44 Finalist
  • Team won the 2014 Dick’s Sporting Goods Atlantic Cup Championship and the 2015 Trilogy Gettysburg Tournament Championship
