WORCESTER, Mass. - Three members of the Holy Cross Cross Country teams have earned Patriot League honors for the week of Oct. 6-12. For the women's team, freshman Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) was named the Patriot League Runner and Rookie of the Week for her performance at the New England Championship on Oct. 11. Sutherland ran her second fastest time of the season, 18:41, and finished 38th out of 298 runners to lead the Crusaders to a 12th place team finish out of 45 teams.
For the men's team, junior Tim Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) was named the Patriot League Runner of the Week. Richard was the top finisher for the Crusaders at the New England Championship on Oct. 11, finishing in 58th place and running a season best time (25:46). Freshman Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his performance at the New England Championship. Altenau ran his second fastest time of the season, 26:44, and was the top freshman finisher for Holy Cross. Together, Richard and Altenau led the men's cross country team to a 16th place finish out of 47 teams.
Holy Cross returns to action on November 1 for the Patriot League Championship in Bethlehem, Pa. at 11:00 a.m.
