Crusader Legends: Amy O'Brien (video interview, January 2010)
O'Brien was a four-year
letterwinner for the Holy Cross women's basketball team, leading
the squad to Patriot League titles in 1996, 1998 and 1999. A first
team All-Patriot League selection in each of her final three
seasons, O'Brien was named the Patriot League Player of the Year
and Scholar-Athlete of the Year in both 1998 and 1999. Only the
second player in school history to score over 2,000 career points,
she finished her career as a Crusader with 2,075 points, 963
rebounds, 179 assists and 209 steals.
O'Brien graduated holding the top two spots on the Holy Cross
single season scoring list, with 782 points as a junior and 643
points as a senior. A two-time second team Academic All-America
selection, O'Brien posted 40 career double-doubles and scored 30
points in a game 14 times, including a school record 38 points
against Connecticut in her junior year. O'Brien was named the
Crusader of the Year in 1999, and was inducted into the New England
Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
