"Bots" Nekota was a key pitcher on the 1928 Holy Cross baseball team which won the Eastern Intercollegiate Championship with a 19-3 record. He posted an 11-0 mark on the mound to lead HC to another title in 1929, after which he left for professional baseball. He spent nine seasons in the minor leagues, with brief major league stops with the Yankees and Detroit Tigers. After his playing days ended he became a scout and is credited with signing two Red Sox stars Carl Yastremski and Rico Petrocelli. He passed away in 1987.
