Jones arrived at Holy Cross from St. John's Prep in 1907. A multi-sport athlete, he participated in football, baseball, track, and basketball while on the Hill.  An exciting and speedy back on the football team, he was also an accomplished baseball player.  He anchored the infield for the Crusaders, playing three years at second base.  The team captain his senior year, Jones played alongside other Holy Cross greats like Edward Larkin, James Dowd, and Daniel Mahoney.  His speed made him a natural runner and earned him a valuable spot in the dashes, where he contributed many points for the HC in track meets around New England.  After graduation he coached at St. John’s High School, St. John’s Prep and St. Ambrose College in football, baseball and track. After coaching he founded and ran the Horace Partridge Sporting Goods Store for many years until his retirement. He was also active in civic affairs, serving as Worcester County Commissioner.
