Verrette was one of the College’s most successful athletes in the 1970's. An Andover, MA native, Verrette was a four-year starter at safety and three-year starter in left field for the Crusaders. He was fifth nationally with seven interceptions in 1978 and was the O’Melia Award winner of the 1978 Boston College game, as he made 18 tackles, intercepted two passes and, in the final minute, knocked down a two-point conversion pass to secure a 30-29 Crusader victory. He was a two-time Davitt Award winner and All New England pick. One the diamond he was a fine hitter, hitting three home runs in a game with Brown.
