Biography

McCabe, who was a linebacker, set a single-season record in 1985 with 178 tackles. He was a two-time recipient of the Davitt Award as the squad’s top defensive back and was a captain of the 1986 Crusaders. He graduated with the second most tackles in Holy Cross history at 386.

He garnered numerous honors for his senior season, including second team All-America, first team All-East, first team All-New England, Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Patriot League All-Star and Msgr. George Connor award. He was also selected to compete in the 1987 Senior Bowl.

McCabe also earned 1987 Crusader of the Year accolades.

His teams achieved an overall record of 31-12-2. The 1986 squad finished 10-1 and won the Patriot League League Championship, the Lambert Cup and was chosen ECAC Team of the Year.
