Johnny Turco was a standout in both football and baseball at Holy Cross. On the gridiron he was a scoring machine, and set a number of school records which held up for decades. He graduated with school records for touchdown receptions in a season (9) and in a career (15), points scored in a game (30) and a season (102), and touchdowns scored in a season (17) and career (29). Although he graduated in 1952, he held all of those records until the 1980's. The annual Homecoming MVP award has been named in his honor since it's inception in 1965. His baseball career was cut short after three minor league seasons, due to injuries suffered in his football career. While at Holy Cross, however, he was a member of the 1952 NCAA championship Holy Cross baseball team.
