Biography
Wendelken was not only a two-sport
performer at Holy Cross, he was a two-sport captain. He
graduated as the fifth leading basketball scorer in HC history with
1,386 points and a 19.5 career average, serving as captain during
his senior year. On the diamond, he was captain of the 1965
baseball. He was a two time All New England pick in both basketball
and baseball.
As a senior at Holy Cross, Wendelken was the Crusader of the Year
and won the coveted Lawler Award as the college’s top
student-athlete. He had a tryout with the Baltimore Bullets, before
beginning a career in coaching.
