Another of Jack Barry’s great pitchers, Tivnan was the mainstay of the 1945, 1946 and 1947 teams that won 33 and lost 10. During the 1945 season, Tivnan pitched in 15 of the 16 games played and he won 12 and lost one. That season he started a game against the Boston Red Sox and held them to just one hit before being removed by Coach Barry in the fifth inning. His other highlight that season was pitching a no-hitter for the Crusaders. HC played just 10 games during the 1946 season due to the war, but Tivnan won five games. In 1947 he led the Crusaders to a record of 15 wins and 2 losses.
