Biography
Delaney was an outstanding tackle
for the Crusaders in the late 1930's, making the All-East First
Team and the New York Sun First All American Team. He and Bill
Osmanski were the first Crusaders to play in the East West Shrine
Game. As a baseball pitcher, he had an excellent record (7-1)
in 1939. His only loss was to Boston College in the tenth inning of
his last game for the Crusaders.
After graduation, Delaney had a long coaching career before
becoming a secondary school principal. He remained in athletics by
officiating football and basketball for more than a quarter of a
century in Rhode Island.
