Biography
Daly entered Holy Cross after an
outstanding career at Altoona High School in Pennsylvania. As a
Crusader, he competed in football, basketball, track and tennis.
His football prowess brought him the name of “First Down
Daly.”
He was considered one of the best fullbacks in the East and gained
All-East and All-American Honorable Mention. Some of his
outstanding games were against Western Maryland, Fordham and Boston
College. In a game against Harvard during his junior year, his
ground attack led the Crusaders back from a 14-0 second half
deficit for a 19-14 victory.
Daly was a Past President of the Boston College Law School Alumni
Association and served on the Special Massachusetts Crime
Commission from 1953 to 1957. While in private practice, he
opened the first Boston office of the Federal Housing
Authority. He passed away in 1989.
