Biography

Daly entered Holy Cross after an outstanding career at Altoona High School in Pennsylvania. As a Crusader, he competed in football, basketball, track and tennis. His football prowess brought him the name of “First Down Daly.”

He was considered one of the best fullbacks in the East and gained All-East and All-American Honorable Mention. Some of his outstanding games were against Western Maryland, Fordham and Boston College. In a game against Harvard during his junior year, his ground attack led the Crusaders back from a 14-0 second half deficit for a 19-14 victory.

Daly was a Past President of the Boston College Law School Alumni Association and served on the Special Massachusetts Crime Commission from 1953 to 1957. While in private practice, he opened the first Boston office of the Federal Housing Authority.  He passed away in 1989.
