Biography

Colombo was the starting quarterback for the Crusaders in 1977 and led HC to a 35-20 upset win over BC. He was chosen as co-winner of the O’Meila Award for his efforts in that game. He was also selected as winner of the Turco Award that season as game MVP at Homecoming. As a senior in 1978, Peter led his teammates to a 5-0 early season record, including a stunning upset over Air Force Academy at Colorado. He finished his career again quarterbacking HC over BC, this time by a 30-29 score at Chestnut Hill and was chosen as the Davitt Award winner at the 1979 Hall of Fame dinner. As a second baseman and shortstop on Jack Whalen’s baseball team, Colombo was the leadoff hitter and sparkplug of the 1976-1979 teams, which compiled an overall record of 74-58-3, including the 1978 squad which qualified for the NCAA regionals. He served as captain of the 1979 team, and finished his baseball career with 102 hits and 111 bases on balls over his four-year career.
