Biography
Maiberger was a standout on the
Crusader track and field team, serving as co-captain during his
senior year in 1964. He led Holy Cross to a first place finish at
the 1963 New England Championship, scoring a team-best 14 points.
During that meet, Maiberger also won the 100-yard dash (10.0
seconds) and the long jump (23 feet, 7.5 inches), while placing
second in the 220-yard dash. He won the long jump (24 feet, 6
inches) at the 1963 IC4A Championship, in addition to running a leg
on the one mile relay team which finished third.
Maiberger missed most of his senior year due to injury, but still
placed second in the long jump at the 1964 New England
Championship. He graduated with Holy Cross records in the indoor
long jump (23 feet, 7.25 inches), the outdoor long jump (24 feet, 6
inches) and the 220-yard dash (21.0 seconds). Following his senior
year, Maiberger received the John C. Lawlor Medal.
