Five Crusader Athletes Receive Holy Cross Academic Awards
WORCESTER, Mass. - Five Crusader athletes are among a group of Holy Cross students who have been selected as winners of Academic Awards for the 2009-2010 school year. Senior Gaven Ehrlich (Rochester, N.Y.) of the men's rowing team, senior Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.) of the women's cross country and track teams, senior Matt Perry (Sudbury, Mass.) of the baseball team, senior Andrew Cialino (Medford, N.J.) of the football team and junior Brandon DeLisio (Woodstock, N.Y.) of the men's lacrosse team are the athletes who have been honored. These individuals received their awards in a special presentation held in the Dinand Library on Thursday, May 27.
The following are the awards which were received by Holy Cross athletes.
The John C. Lawlor Medal
(awarded to the outstanding student and athlete throughout the college course)
The Strain Gold Medal
(given for the best essay submitted during the academic year on a subject taken from the field of philosophy)
The Varsity Club Norton Prize
(given to an outstanding student athlete)
The Edward F. Wall, Jr., Prize
(awarded annually to a fourth-year student whose research essay in any field of history is judged by the Department of History to be exemplary)
The Vanhook-Vidulich Award
(given to a student for an excellent research thesis and presentation)
