Several Holy Cross Athletic Teams Post Perfect 1,000 APR Scores

WORCESTER, Mass. - A number of Holy Cross' athletic teams have achieved a perfect score of 1,000 in the NCAA's academic performance standard, the Academic Progress Rate (APR). Nine Crusaders teams had a perfect multi-year APR score (based on data from the 2005-2006 through 2008-2009 school years), while 12 Holy Cross squads achieved a perfect score for the most recent year (based on data from 2008-2009).

The APR uses a series of formulas related to student-athlete retention and eligibility to measure the academic performance of all participants on teams at every Division I college and university.

The Crusader programs to post perfect multi-year APR scores were men's basketball, women's basketball, women's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, women's lacrosse, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, and women's tennis.

The Holy Cross teams with perfect APR scores for the 2008-2009 school year were baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's cross country, field hockey, men's ice hockey, women's lacrosse, women's rowing, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, and women's swimming and diving.

Overall, the lowest APR for any Holy Cross team was 963, well above the NCAA's minimum score of 925. Teams which have an APR below 925 can be subject to sanctions and probation. The national average for all Division I institutions was 967.
