Associate Director of Athletics / Finance & Business - College of the Holy Cross, (Worcester, Mass.)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Athletics and in close collaboration with the Office of the Controller and the Human Resources Department, the Associate Athletics Director/Finance & Business will serve as the lead for all financial and business operations for the department of athletics along with oversight of various support units within the department. The Associate Athletics Director will lead the department in all financial areas with an emphasis on strategic financial planning, optimum resource allocation, programmatic fiscal strength, efficient and effective financial reporting, budget forecasting and proper monitoring of financial process & procedures.

This is a senior staff and leadership position within the department of athletics.  As such, the Associate Athletics Director will supervise a significant number of staff in the areas of sports medicine, strength & conditioning, and sports equipment. The position will also serve as the departmental liaison with campus Human Resources. The position could also have sport supervision as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Leading all Intercollegiate Athletics daily fiscal functions with direct oversight of all accounting, fiscal and NCAA reporting, auditing, control procedures and policies.  Providing the Director of Athletics with frequent updates and assessments of new and ongoing financial issues.  Review and revision of department fiscal policies and control procedures as required to comply with department, campus, conference and NCAA policies and requirements in addition to standard accounting procedures.  Development of department level financial processes training and education to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.  Perform internal audits and monitor organizational performance and the necessary checks and balances on financial function activities to ensure controls are operating as designed.  Lead the creation of the annual Intercollegiate Athletics budget, long-range fiscal and strategic planning and capital financing.  Provide leadership and guidance for the areas of sports medicine, strength & conditioning and equipment operations. Promote a positive image of the intercollegiate athletics program and the College by participating in community and professional organizations and representing the College as a spokesperson at appropriate events, professional meetings, and campus committees and in community activities as appropriate.  Contribute to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by willingly performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics. 

REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s degree in an applicable discipline is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.  A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated professional success and relevant athletics experience in financial operations is required.  Preference will be given to applicants holding CPA credentials and or previous fiscal experience working in a Division I athletics program.  Demonstrated internal controls expertise is preferred.

Head Men's Rowing Coach - College of the Holy Cross, (Worcester, Mass.)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lead men’s crew program by recruiting and developing qualified student-athletes, supervising assistant coaches, and organizing schedules. The head coach must conduct the program in a manner that recognize the primacy of academics by recruiting, supporting, and retaining student-athletes who will be competitive in college crew. The head coach must ensure that the men’s crew program operates in compliance with all College and NCAA rules and regulations.

Provides leadership to team that achieves academic and athletic success on a consistent basis.  Head coach monitors academic progress; develops training programs that are safe and effective for student-athletes; schedules games and practices in accordance with College policies; coordinates travel arrangements; oversees selection of team equipment and apparel; coordinates video analysis; develops game strategies; completes reports; and maintains records as required. Coordinates recruitment of student-athletes.  Head coach identifies talented,  academically qualified prospective student-athletes; effectively communicates with high school coaches, prospects and parents; and supports key applicants within admissions and financial aid offices. Provides leadership to program.  Maintains an environment that reflects the department’s commitment to excellence, integrity, respect and leadership.  Collaborates with sport administrator and/or Director of Athletics to develop annual goals for program.  Communicates program’s needs and concerns responsibly and in timely manner.  Attends workshops, training sessions and meetings required for head coaches by the College and the conference. Responsible for administration of all phases of the program, including monitoring team budget, completing expense reports, and conducting sports camps and/or clinics. Participates in marketing and fundraising initiatives.  Engages in special events to generate interest within the College community, alumni, and region. Oversees operational activities of assistant coaches and prepares annual evaluations for direct reports. Performs other duties as assigned by sport supervisor and/or Director of Athletics.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree required. Previous coaching experience required, preferably at the Division I level. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required. Computer and video editing skills strongly encouraged. 40 hours/week; 12 months/year.
