Head Women's Lacrosse - College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, Mass.)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lead NCAA Division I women's lacrosse program by recruiting and developing qualified student-athletes, supervising assistant coaches, and organizing schedules. The head coach must conduct the program in a manner that recognize the primacy of academics by recruiting, supporting, and retaining student-athletes who will be competitive in the Patriot League.  The head coach must ensure that the women's lacrosse program operates in compliance with all College, Patriot League and NCAA rules and regulations.

Provides leadership to team that achieves academic and athletic success on a consistent basis.  Head coach monitors academic progress; develops training programs that are safe and effective for student-athletes; schedules games and practices in accordance with College policies; coordinates travel arrangements; oversees selection of team equipment and apparel; coordinates video analysis; develops game strategies; completes reports; and maintains records as required. Coordinates recruitment of student-athletes.  Head coach identifies talented, academically qualified prospective student-athletes; effectively communicates with high school coaches, club coaches, prospects and parents; and supports key applicants within admissions and financial aid offices. Provides leadership to program.  Maintains an environment that reflects the department's commitment to excellence, integrity, respect and leadership.  Collaborates with sport administrator and/or Director of Athletics to develop annual goals for program.  Communicates program's needs and concerns responsibly and in timely manner.  Attends workshops, training sessions and meetings required for head coaches by the College and the conference. Responsible for administration of all phases of the program, including monitoring team budget, completing expense reports, and conducting sports camps and/or clinics. Participates in marketing and fundraising initiatives.  Engages in special events to generate interest within the College community, alumni, and region. Oversees operational activities of assistant coaches and prepares annual evaluations for direct reports. Performs other duties as assigned by sport supervisor and/or Director of Athletics.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree required. Previous coaching experience required, preferably at the Division I level.  Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.  Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required. Computer and video editing skills strongly encouraged.

Athletic Trainer - College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, Mass.)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Athletic Trainer for Men's Ice Hockey/Football is responsible for administration of athletic training care to student-athletes including prevention, emergency care and rehabilitation elements. 

Provide the best possible medical care for the student athletes and visiting athletic teams.  Provides injury evaluation, treatment, and first-aid care for assigned teams, events, and day to day on-call assignments.   Plans and implements rehabilitation programs for serious injuries or post-surgical conditions.  Keeps and maintains medical records for each athlete.   Maintains the inventory for medical supplies and over the counter medications.  Assists in the supervision of athletic training students in the training room and at the practice or competition facility.  Engaging in effective written and oral communication with members of the coaching staff, athletic administration, and sports medicine staff.  Assist with established guidelines of the health care of profession and medical community, promoting a communication network for student-athletes, parents, coaches and medical personnel.  Organization and completion of student-athlete pre-participation physical examinations; coordinating timely referrals and communicating with the Team Physicians regarding student-athlete injuries and medical condition and plan of care.  Working with Athletic Training Education Program students to set up necessary emergency and safety equipment for practice and competition; Being familiar with Departmental Emergency Plan for practice and competition and be prepared to initiate during practice and competition as well as provide CPR/AED and on field extrication.  Must be a student of their craft and strive to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques used in the athletic industry.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree required.  National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification required.  State of Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals Licensure required.  CPR, AED, First Aide & Blood Borne Pathogens Certifications essential.  Experience managing multiple tasks while working proficiently under pressure,  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively with tight deadlines. 40 hours/week; 12 months/year.

Assistant Equipment Manager - College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, Mass.)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The candidate for this position will be responsible for assisting the Equipment Manager in meeting the daily needs for all 27 varsity sports programs, however this person will be primarily responsible for oversight of the Men and Women's Ice Hockey programs when in season.  Candidate must be knowledgeable about all hockey equipment including helmet/pad repair, sticks, skate sharpening, and sewing.  Additional duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining, controlling, issuing and retrieving athletic equipment, practice gear and uniforms, daily laundry, and other duties as assigned.  Candidate must be willing and able to work nights and weekends and travel to select away games.


REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree and experience in equipment control required.  Excellent computer skills required.  Experience as a student-athlete and/or knowledge of athletic equipment necessary.  Must possess excellent time management skills and organizational skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with students, administrators and outside vendors.

Athletic Marketing Assistant - College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, Mass.)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist with the creation of the overall marketing strategy including digital, TV, radio, print social media, mobile etc. Create plans that are aligned with the College Marketing and Communications overall marketing plan and priorities for promotional items, events and Crusader Athletics Fund initiatives. Assist with research efforts to identify most effective channels to reach a targeted audience. Coordinate content from internal departments and to send marketing and communication based emails, including Ticket Sales information, Community Newsletters, e-newsletters, etc. Assist with coordination advertising, brand awareness and creative.

Developing and executing the department's strategic marketing and business plan, which includes but not limited to: Revenue generation, Community engagement, and event experience with a dual purpose goal of enhancing Holy Cross's brand awareness and increasing consumer affinity.  Activate overall marketing plan for athletics, including ticket sales, attendance, community outreach, branding, and lead generation.  Generate increases in season tickets sales, retention, single game ticket sales, and group ticket sales. Direct and Implement all advertising elements, including online, print, digital, community, and partnership components of the marketing plan.  Creating in-game activities, promotions and an exciting atmosphere to enhance the enjoyment for attendees and improve the home field/court competitive advantage for Crusader teams. Generating increased student attendance and engagement for all athletic teams. Demonstrating an understanding of customer and alumni behavior and strategizing initiatives and communication points to increase customer satisfaction and retention metrics as defined by the annual athletic department customer survey.  Development of sport specific marketing campaigns, which will include promotional ideas balanced in a managing and advising the Pep Band, Cheerleaders, and Mascots who are required to attend specific games, as well as, working with student activity groups to organize performances.  Oversee activation of a comprehensive social media and web presence campaign, including GoHolyCross.com Auction.  Act as the primary marketing contact for coaches and sport administrators.  Direct and coordinate all revenue related special events, including award show, golf tournaments, team alumni events, Coordinate marketing messages in conjunction with all campus entities, including Marketing & Communication, Development and Community Relations. Other marketing responsibilities as assigned. Oversee the operational activities of the Graduate Intern for Athletics Marketing.


REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's required; Some experience in professional or intercollegiate athletic environment.  Ability to take complex ideas and present them in a manner that is easy to consume and share. Experience managing a small team and working cross-functionally to achieve department goals.  Strong research and analytical skills, with an ability to identify trends, draw valid conclusions and make insightful recommendations.  Strong quantitative analysis skills to interpret data and mine for insights. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively with tight deadlines. Strong quantitative analytical ability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite Products. In Graduate school, attempting to get in to Graduate school or post graduate looking for experience, preferred.
