WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team began their home schedule with a Turnpike Trophy doubleheader against Patriot League foe Boston University falling 11-1 in five innings during game one and 6-0 in game two Sunday afternoon.
The defeats send the Crusaders to 7-21, 0-5 PL while the Terriers move to 25-7, 2-0 PL.

GAME ONE: TERRIERS 11, CRUSADERS 1 (FINAL – 5 INN.):

STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:
- Allison Boaz: W, (12-4), 3.2 innings pitched, six hits allowed, one earned run, three strikeouts, walk.
- Junior Megan Yurchick: L, (6-10), 4.0 innings pitched five earned runs, seven walks, five strikeouts, six hits allowed.
IN RELIEF:
- Kasey Ricard: 1.1 innings pitched, two strikeouts, walk.
- Senior Peyton Morehouse: 0.2 innings pitched, four earned runs, three hits allowed, walk, strikeout.
- Senior Audrey Gusel: 0.1 innings pitched, one hit allowed.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Brooke Deppiesse: 2-for-3, triple, four RBI.
- Kayla Roncin: 2-for-4, RBI, two runs scired.
- Caitlin Coker: 1-for-1, three walks, run scored, RBI, two steals, run scored
- Freshman Anna Brait: 2-for-3.
- Peyton Morehouse: 2-for-2, RBI.
- Senior Bailey Bates: 1-for-1, run scored, walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- BU took a 3-0 lead in the first a pair of fielding errors and a Deppiesse single to left to plate Coker made it 3-0 early.
- In the top of the fourth, Deppiesse tripled and tried to come home for the inside-the-park grand slam, however, she was gunned out by freshman Ali Sniegocki and senior Kari Jacobson at the plate to make it 7-0.
- On a full count in the fourth, Morehouse singled to center to plate Bates cutting into the deficit at 7-1.
- A Coker opposite field single in the fifth capped off the run rule victory.

GAME TWO: TERRIERS 6, CRUSADERS 0 (FINAL):

STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:
- Kasey Ricard: W, (9-2), complete game, shutout, one hit allowed, walk, 17 strikeouts.
- Freshman Sophia Roncone: L, (1-10), 4.2 innings pitched, six hits allowed, five earned runs, walk, strikeout.
IN RELIEF:
- Megan Yurchick: 2.1 innings pitched, two hits allowed, walk, two strikeouts.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Emily Grant: 3-for-4, run scored, RBI.
- Kayla Roncin: 1-for-3, three RBI, stolen base, run scored.
- Kate Pryor: 1-for-3, run scored, triple
- Anna Brait: 1-for-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A sacrifice fly in the third gave the Terriers the early edge 1-0.
- A five run fifth which started when Roncin singled to center expanded the lead to 3-0. A fielding error increased the margin to 6-0.
- Yurchick punched out Roncin in the top of the seventh and it was only the third time she struck out this season in 108 at-bats.
