WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team was upended 9-1 in five innings during game one and 13-7 in game two on Senior Day, Saturday against Patriot League foe Lehigh at Freshman Field.
The win completes the three game series sweep for the Mountain Hawks (38-10, 15-0 PL) while the Crusaders fall to 15-25-1 and end their conference slate with a 2-16 record.

Freshman
Anna Brait extended her reached base streak to 13 games after recording a .500 (4-for-8) batting average in the three game set against Lehigh with two doubles and two RBI. During her 13 game reached based streak, Brait is slashing .444/.565/.667 with a home run, 10 RBI five doubles and more walks (10) than strikeouts (5).

GAME ONE: MOUNTAIN HAWKS 9, CRUSADERS 1 (FINAL – 5 INN.):

STARTING IN THE CIRCLE:
- Katelyn Young: W, (18-5), complete game, three hits allowed, earned run, four walks, two strikeouts.
- Junior Megan Yurchick: L, (9-14), 3.1 innings pitched, eight hits allowed, eight runs – one earned, walk, strikeout.
IN RELIEF:
- Freshman Sophia Roncone: 1.2 innings pitched, one hit allowed, earned run, walk, two strikeouts.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Lily Owens: 2-for-3, stolen base, run scored, three RBI.
- Brooke Cannon: 2-for-3, triple, two runs scored, RBI.
- Junior Morgan Jensen: 1-for-2.
- Junior Jessica Mott: 1-for-3, double.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lehigh scored four times in the top of the third. A throwing error plated two runs with no outs while an Owens single made it 3-0. Another Crusader miscue, their third of the frame, expanded the edge to 4-0.
- With one away in the bottom half of the third, Mott barreled a double into the left center field gap and Brait walked to put two runners how, however the Crusaders could not get anything across the plate.
- Five in the fourth for Lehigh pushed them ahead 9-0.
- A Bates sacrifice fly in the fifth resulted in the line Crusader run.

- Audrey Gusel: ND, 3.1 innings pitched, nine hits allowed, six runs – five earned.

- Freshman Sophia Roncone: L, (6-19), 1.2 innings pitched, three hits allowed, three runs – zero earned, four walks, strikeout.
- Megan Yurchick: 1.1 innings pitched, two hits allowed, four runs – three earned, two walks, strikeout.
- Peyton Morehouse: 0.2 innings pitched, one hit allowed.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lehigh loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first. Cannon doubled deep to left field to bring in two runs. A sacrifice fly coupled with another double to right field upped the margin to 4-0 early.
- The Crusaders countered as Brait doubled deep to right to open the scoring for Holy Cross. Morehouse and Eckelman singled home runs to pull the hosts within one, 4-3.
- Martin homered on the first pitch she saw in the top of the second to add on to the Mountain Hawk edge at 5-3.
- In the next half inning, Thibault leveled the contest, 5-5. via a single to center.
- Trailing 6-5, Brait tied the game 6-6 in the bottom of the fourth pulling an RBI double deep to right field.
- A three run fifth put Lehigh back in the driver's seat before a Bates single in the fifth dropped the deficit to 9-7.
- Four insurance tallies in the top of the seventh iced the game.

DUE UP:
- The Crusaders end their 11 game homestand on Wednesday, May 3 against nonconference opponent Bryant.
- First pitch at Freshman Field is scheduled for 4 p.m.
