WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross sophomore pitcher Donny Murray (Walpole, Mass.) was named ECAC Division I Pitcher of the week, for competition from April 22-28. This is the first time Murray has won ECAC honors in his career as he helped the Crusaders to a 2-0 victory versus Army on Sunday, April 28. Murray was also selected as Patriot League Pitcher of the Week on April 29.
Murray pitched the opening contest of Sunday's doubleheader versus Army and dominated the Black Knight batters. He tossed a complete game seven inning one-hitter versus Army, which clinched the regular-season title for Holy Cross. Murray gave up his only hit in the fifth inning, as he walked two and struck out five batters. He picked up his fifth win of the season and also pitched his first career complete game shutout.
For the season, Murray holds a 5-3 record with a 4.94 ERA over 58.1 innings pitched. He has appeared in 11 games and has made nine starts, while recording a career-best 45 strikeouts.
Holy Cross will play a pair of non-conference games this week, beginning with a trip to Connecticut on Wednesday, May 1 at 3:00 p.m. The Crusaders will host Anna Maria on Saturday, May 4 at 12:00 p.m. at Fitton Field.
