WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior outfielder Josh Olson (Woodbury, Minn.), a member of the baseball team, received this year's John P. Cooney Memorial Award. The award was presented at the 58th annual Holy Cross Varsity Club dinner, held at the Hogan Campus Center on Satruday, May 4.
The Cooney Award is presented each year to a senior letterwinner who has performed beyond all expectations with courage, loyalty and dedication. Olson has hit .229 over the course of his Holy Cross career with 24 runs scored, 12 doubles, two home runs and 24 runs batted in.
He has been very active off the field as well, serving as the team's coordinator for its involvement with Big Brothers / Big Sisters. In addition, Olson has been involved with the Holy Cross Goes Unified program and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, while serving on the Hanify-Howland Memorial Lecture committee.
He was also selected to the Patriot League All-Academic team in 2011, has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times and is a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu honor society.
