George Perrotta Wins Daniel Allen Sportsmanship Award

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior righthanded pitcher George Perrotta (Eastchester, N.Y.), a member of the baseball team, has been selected as this year's recipient of the Daniel Allen Sportsmanship Award. The award was presented at the 58th annual Holy Cross Varsity Club dinner, held at the Hogan Campus Center on Satruday, May 4.

The Allen Award was established in 2005, and is presented to the Holy Cross varsity athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship that coach Allen exhibited throughout his life.

After not making the varsity roster during either his freshman or sophomore year, Perrotta remained committed and finally earned a spot on the pitching staff as a junior. He earned a victory in his only start of the 2012 season, allowing just two runs on four hits in five innings.

This year, he has earned a more prominent role for the Crusaders, appearing in 12 games with two starts, and allowing 13 runs on 27 hits with eight strikeouts in 17-2/3 innings of work.
