WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman infielder Nick Lovullo (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) has been named the recipient of the 2013 Ron Soucie Award. Created by his former teammates Rick DeAngelis (Class of 1970) and Tom Kelly (Class of 1967), the Soucie Award is presented annually to the Rookie of the Year on the Holy Cross baseball team.
Lovullo appeared in 44 games this season and made 40 starts in the infield. He batted .218 with 29 hits, 25 runs scored, eight doubles, one home run and 27 RBIs. The first-year player had a .301 slugging percentage and also held a .325 on-base percentage. Out of high school, Lovullo was drafted in the 38th round of the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.
