WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore first baseman Eric Oxford (Danvers, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 9-15. Oxford hit three home runs and drove in eight runs last week, as the Holy Cross baseball team won one of three games in a series at Towson.
During the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, a 10-9 win by the Tigers in 12 innings, Oxford hit two homers and knocked in four runs. His second home run of the day was a two-run shot in ninth, which tied the score at 8-8 and forced extra innings. Oxford then had an RBI double in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, which the Crusaders' lost 8-6. He then concluded the series with a three-run homer in the fifth innnings of Sunday's game, giving Holy Cross a 4-2 lead on its way to a 6-3 victory.
Overall this season, Oxford in batting .282 with team highs of four home runs and 11 runs batted in. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has a .316 average with 15 doubles, four homers and 36 runs batted in.
The Crusaders (1-10 overall) return to action on Tuesday, March 17, when they play host to Bryant in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
