Brendan Akashian Named Crusader Of The Week

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior catcher Brendan Akashian (Lowell, Mass.) has been named the Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 24-30. Last week, Akashian led the Holy Cross baseball team to a 4-2 record, including a four-game sweep of Patriot League rival Lehigh.

Akashian opened the week by going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in an 11-2 loss at Boston College on Wednesday. He was then 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and a double in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader at Lehigh, which the Crusaders won 5-4 in 11 innings. Akashian then went 4-for-8 with three runs batted in during Sunday's doubleheader at Lehigh, with Holy Cross winning both games.

Overall last week, Akashian hit .445 with six runs batted in and a .545 on-base percentage.

On the season, Akashian is batting .286 with two home runs and a team-best 18 runs batted in. Over the course of his career as a Crusader, he is hitting .292 with eight homers and 65 RBI.

The Crusaders, who stand 8-13 overall and 4-0 in the Patriot League, return to action on Tuesday, April 1, when they travel to UMass at 3:00 p.m.
