• Played for head coach Dwayne Mitchell at Rice High School in New York, N.Y.
• Served as team captain during his senior season, when he also received team Most Valuable Player honors
• Team won the state championship during his sophomore year, and claimed three straight city championships in his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons
• Member of National Honor Society
• Named the Rice High School Man of the Year

• Has one sister (Cheleise)
• Sister, Janell Thomas, played basketball at North Carolina Central
