WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and head men's basketball coach Milan Brown have announced the Crusaders' non-conference schedule for the 2013-2014 season, which is slated to begin on Nov. 10. The non-league schedule includes eight squads which advanced to postseason play last year, including five NCAA Tournament teams, and nine schools which posted winning records in 2012-2013.
"Our non-conference schedule is going to be very competitive once again this season, and should include three preseason Top 25 teams," said Brown. "We wanted to make sure that we challenged ourselves, and the only way you can really do that is to play against the best. We think facing so many good opponents will prepare us for another tough season in the Patriot League."
The Crusaders begin the season with a contest against Harvard at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., on Nov. 10. Following a home game against Sacred Heart (Nov. 13), Holy Cross opens play in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament with contests at North Carolina (Nov. 15) and Fairfield (Nov. 20). The Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament will then conclude at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., with games against Belmont (Nov. 23) and either Hartford or Hofstra (Nov. 24).
Holy Cross will next play at New Hampshire (Nov. 30), before returning home to face Albany (Dec. 4). After a contest at Hartford (Dec. 7), the Crusaders will play their final non-conference home date against Canisius (Dec. 16). The non-league slate then concludes with games at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (Dec. 21) and Michigan (Dec. 28).
Holy Cross returns three starters and 10 letterwinners from its 2012-2013 squad which went 12-18 overall and 4-10 in the Patriot League.
