WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman guard Anthony Thompson (Glenn Dale, Md.) has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week, for competition from Feb. 10-16. This marks the first time Thompson has received Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors.
During Wednesday night's 66-63 victory over Army, Thompson scored six points and handed out four assists. Then in Saturday's 72-67 win at Lehigh, he recorded 13 points, two rebounds and two assists. Over the course of the two games, Thompson averaged 9.5 points and 3.0 assists, while hitting 83.3 percent of his three-point field goal attempts (five of six) and 100.0 percent of his free throws (four of four).
On the season, Thompson ranks fourth on the team in scoring with an average of 8.7 points per contest, and second with an average of 2.3 assists per game. He has also made 38.5 percent of his three-pointers (25 of 65) and 75.5 percent of his free throws (83 of 110) this year
Holy Cross (16-10 overall, 10-4 Patriot League) returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 19, when it plays host to Lafayette at 7:00 p.m.
