#13 Holy Cross Comes Back For 24-20 Victory At Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) threw a four-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Freddie Santana (Staten Island, N.Y.) with 1:03 remaining in the fourth quarter, as the 13th-ranked Holy Cross football team posted a 24-20 victory over Lehigh at Goodman Stadium. The Crusaders trailed 20-17 with 5:27 left in the game, before going on an eight-play, 81-yard scoring drive to claim the win. Holy Cross improves to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the Patriot League, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 2-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Lehigh opened the game by taking a 7-0 lead on a 14-yard touchdown pass from J.B. Clark to Alex Wojdowski at the 9:51-mark of the first quarter. The Crusaders responded with a 24-yard field goal from junior placekicker Rob Dornfried (Berlin, Conn.), then went in front 10-7 in the second quarter on a 12-yard scoring run by freshman tailback Eddie Houghton (Toronto, Ontario). The Mountain Hawks tied the score at 10-10 before halftime, with a 23-yard Jake Peery field goal.

In the third quarter, the Crusaders reclaimed the lead on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Randolph to Santana. Lehigh would tie the game at 17-17, when Jay Campbell tossed an 18-yard scoring strike to Wojdowski. The Mountain Hawks then went in front on a 38-yard Peery field goal early in the fourth quarter, before Holy Cross came back to win the game in the closing minutes.

Randolph completed 23 of 37 passes on the day for 247 yards, while senior wide out Bill Edger (Hainesport, N.J.) posted five receptions for 61 yards. Senior linebacker Andrew Cialino (Medford, N.J.) led the defense with 15 total tackles, while sophomore linebacker Jimmy Thomas (Severn, Md.) recorded eight tackles with a sack and two tackles for loss.

Holy Cross returns to action next Saturday, Nov. 14, when it plays host to Lafayette at 12:30 p.m.
