Football Team Announces 2010 Incoming Class
Video: Coach Gilmore on the Incoming Class
WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross head football coach Tom Gilmore has announced the 2010 incoming class for the Crusaders. Thirty student-athletes will join the Holy Cross program for the 2010-2011 academic year.
“Overall, I think it is a very good class,” said Gilmore. “This is a fairly sizeable group with 30 players, but we needed to add some depth at several positions due to graduation, in particular on the defensive line and in the secondary. We also attracted some really good quality on the offensive side of the ball, making this a well rounded class. There are going to be some good opportunities for these recruits to fill in on the depth chart right away.”
The 30 players making up this year's class include 12 on offense, 17 on defense and one kicker. Holy Cross has added five wide receivers, five linemen, one running back and one quarterback on the offensive side of the ball, while bringing in seven linemen, five linebackers and five backs for the defense.
Holy Cross returns 12 starters from its 2009 squad which posted an overall record of 9-3, won the Patriot League title with a 5-1 mark in conference games, and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for only the second time in school history. The Crusaders are scheduled to play their annual spring game on Saturday, April 17.
