Taggart Receives Gridiron Club Of Greater Boston Gold Helmet

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior quarterback Ryan Taggart (Bedford, Texas) has received the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Award as the Division I New England Player of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 37-27 victory at Lafayette. Taggart becomes the first Holy Cross player to win the Gold Helmet this season.

In the Lafayette game, Taggart accounted for 245 yards of total offense and four touchdowns. He completed 15 of 31 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to rushing 10 times for 41 yards and two scores. After the Crusaders led just 10-7 at halftime, Taggart racked up 198 of his yards and all four of his touchdowns in the second half as Holy Cross pulled away for the victory. He threw for over 200 yards for the fourth time this season against the Leopards, while throwing at least one touchdown pass for the seventh consecutive game.

Overall this season, Taggart has now completed 172 of 290 passes for 1,745 yards and 14 touchdowns with just seven interceptions. He also ranks second on the team in rushing with 256 yards and three scores on 75 carries.

The Crusaders (5-5 overall, 2-2 Patriot League) return to action this Saturday, Nov. 20, when they play host to Bucknell (1-9 overall, 1-3 Patriot League) at 12:30 p.m. in their final game of the 2010 season.
