WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior wide receiver Freddie Santana (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from November 15-21 . Santana led the Holy Cross football team to a 34-9 victory over Bucknell on Saturday.
During the win over the Bison, Santana totaled six receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. He also had a team-high 39 rushing yards on two carries and one punt return for 13 yards, to finishe the game with 170 all-purpose yards. Santana had over 100 receiving yards for the first time in his collegiate career, and set career highs for both receiving yards and all-purpose yards.
On the season, Santana ranked third on the team with 39 receptions for 482 yards and six touchdowns, while leading the Patriot League with 268 yards and a score on 16 punt returns. He finished his collegiate career with 112 catches for 1,393 yards and 17 touchdowns, to go along with 32 punt returns for 395 yards and a score. Santana ranks sixth all-time at Holy Cross in career touchdown receptions and eighth in career punt return yards.
The Crusaders finished the 2010 campaign with an overall record of 6-5, while placing second in the Patriot League with a 3-2 mark in conference games. Holy Cross posted a winning record for the sixth straight season.
