Holy Cross Announces 2011 Football Signings

Video: Coach Gilmore on the Incoming Class

WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross head football coach Tom Gilmore has announced the 2011 incoming class for the Crusaders. Thirty student-athletes will join the Holy Cross program for the 2011-2012 academic year.

"We are very excited about the new class we have coming in this year," said Gilmore. "It is a pretty large group with 30 players from 11 states, and it will help us add some needed depth at several positions. The class is evenly distributed between the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, and we think the level of talent we are bringing in is very strong."

The 30 players making up this year's class include 16 on offense, 13 on defense and one specialist. Holy Cross has added five linemen, four wide receivers, three quarterbacks, three running backs and one tight end on the offensive side of the ball, while bringing in five backs, four linemen and four linebackers for the defense.

Holy Cross returns 12 starters from its 2010 squad which posted an overall record of 6-5 and finished second in the Patriot League with a 3-2 mark in conference games. The Crusaders are scheduled to open spring practice on Saturday, March 19. The annual spring game is set for Saturday, April 16.
