Thomas Named Patriot League Defensive Player Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior linebacker Jimmy Thomas (Severn, Md.) has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 37-7 victory over Colgate. This marks the second time Thomas has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week during his collegiate career, after previously winning the honor on Nov. 2, 2009.
In the Colgate game, Thomas tied for the team lead with a season-high 10 total tackles, including one tackle for loss. He also intercepted a pass on the opening play of the fourth quarter, and returned it 60 yards for his first career touchdown. On the day, Thomas and the Holy Cross defense held Colgate to just 319 total yards and 4.7 yards per play.
On the season, Thomas ranks fourth on the team with 15 total tackles, to go along with two tackles for loss and an interception. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he has totaled 119 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and five quarterback sacks.
Holy Cross (1-1 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 17, when it plays host to Harvard (0-0 overall, 0-0 Ivy League) as part of Homecoming weekend at 1:00 p.m.
