Taggart Named Patriot League Offensive Player Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior quarterback Ryan Taggart (Bedford, Texas) has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 39-32 loss at New Hampshire. This marks the first time Taggart has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week during his collegiate career.
In the New Hampshire game, Taggart completed 40 of 57 passes for a career-high 412 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 55 yards and two scores on 12 carries. He brought the Crusaders from behind to tie the score twice in the fourth quarter, knotting up the game at 25-25 with a 35-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Gerald Mistretta (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at the 11:36-mark, and rushing for a 13-yard score to make it 32-32 with 2:30 left to play. With his performance, Taggart placed third on the Holy Cross single-game lists for both completions (40) and yards of total offense (467), while ranking ninth for passing yards (412).
On the season, Taggart has connected on 98 of 152 attempts for 1,201 yards and six touchdowns with only one interception. Over the course his career with the Crusaders, he has now completed 285 of 471 passes for 3,103 yards and 20 touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 409 yards and 10 scores on 121 carries.
Holy Cross (2-2 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 8, when it travels to Brown (2-1 overall, 0-1 Ivy League) for a 12:30 p.m. game.
