WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior wide receiver Kyle Toulouse (Arlington, Va.) and freshman tailback Gabe Guild (Overland Park, Kan.) have been honored by the Patriot League for their performances in Saturday's 17-16 loss at Bryant. Toulouse was named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week, while Guild was chosen as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
In the Bryant game, Toulouse led the team with 132 all-purpose yards, returning two punts for 88 yards and two kickoffs for 44 yards. In the first quarter, he returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown, to give the Crusaders a 6-0 lead. That marked the first time a Holy Cross player had returned a punt for a score since the 2010 season. Over the course of his collegiate career, Toulouse has now returned 20 kickoffs for 448 yards and four punts for 98 yards, in addition to catching 75 passes for 799 yards and three touchdowns.
Guild ranked second on the team with 110 all-purpose yards during the contest at Bryant. He posted a team-high seven receptions for 98 yards, in addition to rushing eight times for 12 yards. Guild had a long reception of 48 yards in the third quarter, setting up a field goal which gave the Crusaders a 16-14 lead.
Holy Cross (0-1 overall) returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 7, when it plays host to No. 11 Towson (1-0 overall) at 1:00 p.m.
