WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman quarterback Peter Pujals (Glenview, Ill.) has been selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's 41-35 triple overtime loss to Harvard. This marks the third straight Patriot League Rookie of the Week selection for Pujals.
During Saturday's game against Harvard, Pujals hit on 33 of 50 attempts for a 345 yards and four touchdowns. He set new career highs for passing yards, completions and passing touchdowns, while totaling 352 all-purpose yards. Pujals directed an eight-play, 91-yard scoring drive to give Holy Cross a 21-14 lead with 3:11 left in the fourth quarter, then led the Crusaders to two more touchdowns in the first two overtime periods.
In four games played this season, Pujals has now connected on 71 of 108 attempts for 764 yards and eight scores, while running the ball 50 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
Holy Cross (2-4 overall) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 12, when it travels to Bucknell (1-3 overall) for its Patriot League opener at 1:00 p.m.
