WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman quarterback Peter Pujals (Glenview, Ill.) has received the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Award as the Division I New England Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 51-27 victory at Bucknell. Earlier this week, Pujals earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors.
Pujals Receives Gold Helmet
During the Bucknell game, Pujals accounted for 378 yards of total offense and six touchdowns. He completed 19 of 29 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to carrying the ball 13 times for 80 yards and three more scores.
In five games played this year, Pujals has now connected on 90 of 137 attempts for 1,062 yards and 11 touchdowns with just one interception, while running the ball 63 times for 247 yards and five scores. He also has a current streak of 129 consecutive passes thrown without an interception.
Holy Cross (3-4 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 19, when it plays host to Colgate (1-5 overall, 0-0 Patriot League) in a 12:00 p.m. game at Fitton Field.
