Cazzie Kosciolek is in his sixth year on Tom Gilmore’s coaching staff in 2012, and his fifth season as the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator. During the 2010 season, Kosciolek’s special teams unit ranked first in the Patriot League in kickoff returns (24.1 yards / return), punt returns (15.9 yards / return) and kickoff coverage (42.2 net yards / kickoff). A number of his wide receivers have also enjoyed successful careers, with two wide out earning All-Patriot League honors in each of the last three seasons. Gerald Mistretta and Mike Fess earned All-Conference honors in 2011, after Bill Edger and Freddie Santana were chose All-Patriot League in 2010. During the 2009 season, Santana and Luke Chmielinski were both All-Conference selections.

Previously in 2008, Kosciolek coached a group of wide receivers which featured first team All-Patriot League selection Jon Brock, and a special teams unit which including All-New England kick returner Brett McDermott. Kosciolek previously served as the Crusaders’ running backs coach in 2007.

Kosciolek came to Holy Cross from Newberry (S.C.) College, where he served as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach during the 2006 season. He helped lead the Indians to an 11-2 record in 2006, including the first NCAA playoff appearance and victory in school history. His offense averaged 392.3 yards and 30.7 points per game, and ranked second in the nation with a 158.1 pass efficiency rating.

Kosciolek also worked at Newberry during the 2005 season, as the offensive line coach. He previously served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College in 2004. From 2002-2003, Kosciolek was the offensive line coach at Hofstra University. He began his coaching career at the University of New Haven, where he served as the offensive line and wide receivers coach.

Kosciolek is a 1997 graduate of Boston University, where he was a two-year letterwinner at quarterback. He was a member of the 1993 Yankee Conference championship team, and played on squads which made two trips to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. He went on to play his fifth year at the University of New Haven in 1997, leading the Chargers to an overall record of 13-2 and a trip to the NCAA Division II championship game. Kosciolek was named a first team All-American following the 1997 season, and finished third in the voting for the Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II Player of the Year. He was inducted into the New Haven Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.

A native of Summit Hill, Pa., Kosciolek and his wife, Christy, have two sons (Owen and Max).
