Andy Rondeau is in his first year on the Crusader coaching staff in 2012, serving as the defensive coordinator and secondary coach. Rondeau came to Holy Cross after spending the previous five years as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Old Dominion University.

During his time with the Monarchs, Rondeau helped lead the team to an overall record of 27-8 over the last three seasons, with the school earning its first-ever bid to the NCAA playoffs in 2011. Four players from his defense earned All-Colonial Athletic Association honors during the 2011 campaign, including CAA Defensive Player of the Year Ronnie Cameron. Old Dominion also ranked second in the CAA in both quarterback sacks and takeaways last season, while standing third in the conference in rushing defense. In 2010, Rondeau’s defense ranked 11th in the nation in tackles for loss and 19th in quarterback sacks, while in 2009 the Monarchs stood eighth in the country in takeaways.

His first two seasons at Old Dominion (2007 and 2008) were spent building the program from the ground up, prior to the team’s first season of competition in 2009.

Roundeau was previously the secondary coach and special teams coordinator at Maine for one season in 2006. Two of his players earned All-Atlantic 10 honors, as the Black Bears led the league in total defense, scoring defense and rushing defense. Prior to his time at Maine, Rondeau served as the assistant defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Buffalo in 2004 and 2005. During the 2005 season, the Bulls led the Mid-American Conference and ranked eighth in the nation in pass defense by giving up just 173.6 yards per game through the air.

In 2003, Rondeau was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Tennessee-Martin. He was previously the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator at North Dakota State from 1997-2002, helping the team to two NCAA playoff appearances. Rondeau also served as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh from 1994-1996, and an assistant secondary coach at Northeastern from 1991-1993.

Rondeau earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Syracuse in 1991. A native of Holliston, Mass., he and his wife, Tiffany, have two sons (Ryan and Jack) and two daughters (Alison and Kiley).
