Matt Fanning is in his first year on Tom Gilmore's coaching staff in 2008, serving as the running backs coach. A 2007 Holy Cross graduate, Fanning earned two letters as a wide receiver for the Crusaders. During his senior season in 2006, Fanning ranked fourth on the team in receiving with 35 catches for 475 yards and four touchdowns. He was also the team's top punt returner, averaging 10.4 yards on 20 returns. Following the 2006 season, Fanning received both the Msgr. George S. L. Connor Award and the Daniel Allen Sportsmanship Award. He was also selected to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as a junior in 2005. Fanning is single and resides in Marlborough.
