Ryan Mattison is in his second season on the Holy Cross coaching staff, serving as the assistant secondary coach. Last year, he helped secondary coach Richard Rodgers lead a defensive backfield which totaled 11 interceptions, with cornerback Casey Gough earning All-Patriot League honors. Mattison came to the Crusaders from Assumption College, where he spent the 2004 season as the secondary coach, in addition to serving as the team's academic liaison. A 2003 graduate of Boston College, Mattison spent five seasons as a defensive back on the Eagles' football team. During his playing days, he was a part of teams which took part in the Insight Bowl (1999), Aloha Bowl (2000), Music City Bowl (2001), Motor City Bowl (2002) and San Francisco Bowl (2003).
